My name is Natalie Van Note, LPC, and I believe people come to counseling when they feel “stuck” in some area of their lives. While all of us are equipped with varying amounts of skills or “tools” to cope with life stressors, there are times in our lives when we have limited tools (or lack of insight) in our toolboxes. My passion as a therapist is to help you identify what strengths you already possess, learn what will help you get “unstuck,” and teach you those skills that will enable you to live the rich, full life you deserve to live.
My Practice Specialties
At In Sight Counseling Connections, I specialize in co parenting coaching (especially for post-divorce cases) and the acute therapy that accompanies the loss of a marriage for individuals in the Denver area.
These are services that are unique to my practice and to the way I administer therapy. I have worked very hard to develop a system to move people who are going through divorce from the beginning shock of it all to getting your life back to a “new normal” using means that have worked well with my clients in the past.
CO PARENT COUNSELING
Are you experiencing difficulty communicating and/or carrying out the terms of your divorce decree with your ex-spouse? With almost 20 years of experience as a therapist, Child & Family Investigator, divorce mediator, a supervisor of parental visitation, decision-maker, and a parenting coordinator, I use that knowledge to help you through the divorce process and post-divorce process. How? I coach you through new territory (such as the inability to deal with your ex) you may not know much about –but not from an attorney’s perspective. I cannot and do not give legal advice, but I help you develop new ways of dealing with your ex and the overwhelming life and relationship changes you face in a creative and empowering manner.

POST DIVORCE COUNSELING
Many clients come to me just after either they have left their spouse or their spouse has left them. This is usually when you feel like the rug has been pulled out from under you. You may feel angry, traumatized, depressed or suicidal, or you may feel lost to the point of being able to even physically move because you are so dumbfounded. I help you when you’re in that acute state of TRAUMA to work through those feelings and get back on track so you can be there for your family, go to work, and function on a daily basis. Crisis resolution is my goal in these situations.

What's in it for me to go to counseling with Natalie?
I use evidence-based treatment modalities in my practice, especially Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). What does this mean for you? This means I am going to give you real, tangible skills you can use every day to help you feel better. That is not to say that I do not ever use other proven methods of therapy, but I rely more heavily on these because of the strong behavioral components involved, especially mindfulness. If I teach a skill, we are going to practice it in session and you will have the opportunity to try it out on your own as well. Setting goals and monitoring progress is very empowering! Another part of my philosophy of treatment is that I do not give up on clients. This concept is taken from DBT: failure is not an option. So, if you are ready to dare to feel better, I will be right there with you.
I invite you to enjoy a free 30-minute consultation with me to see if we are a good fit. I certainly hope I can be of help to you on your journey toward living life to its fullest.
